Patrick Kane investigation: Few details emerge

“The Hamburg Police can file a criminal complaint, most likely a felony criminal complaint, have Pat Kane arraigned in Hamburg Town Court, and potentially within a couple weeks thereafter have a felony hearing which could move the case to the grand jury at that point in time”.

The Buffalo News has reported that the 26-year-old Kane, a native of South Buffalo, is the subject of a rape investigation, according to sources. “We are gathering information and awaiting forensic testing results”, Wickett said.

Neighbors told the Tribune that three unmarked police cars descended upon Kane’s Hamburg home Sunday, and several plainclothes officers entered his house using flashlights.

In the meantime, Blackhawks spokesman Brandon Faber said Kane will skip the Stanley Cup celebration over Chicago’s third title in six years.

While it’s not clear when – or if – Patrick Kane could be charged, police in Buffalo have implied that the process may take quite some time.

“The case is clearly in the investigatory stage”, said Buffalo attorney Terrence Connors, who is familiar with people overseeing the investigation.

In separate statements, both the Chicago Blackhawks and the National Hockey League said they are aware of the matter and are following any new developments.

Since the rape story broke, a number of tweets have surfaced from those who claimed to have seen Kane “bombed” at a Buffalo bar last Saturday night.

Kane was born and raised in Buffalo and spends his off-seasons nearby.

In August 2009, Kane was arrested in Buffalo for assaulting a taxi driver.
