Patrick the world’s oldest wombat celebrates 30th birthday at Ballarat
Being single can be a drag, especially when you’re staring 30 in the face.

The Victoria park’s oldest resident bachelor has never had much luck with females, with his handlers saying he’s too much of a sensitive, new-age wombat – or SNAW for short. So he did what any single male does in the modern world – he downloaded the Tinder app.
And just to tip the scales in Patrick’s favor, the Ballarat Wildlife Park bought Paddy his very own wheelbarrow so he and his future Tinder match can go on dates in style.
And who could resist his charm?
His chilled out demeanour isn’t typical of other wombats.
At 30, his owners believe he is the oldest living wombat in the world – with wombats in the wild usually only living until five and those in captivity maxing out at 20.
Last year, a photo of the elderly marsupial attracted around 250,000 likes on social media website Facebook in 24 hours, and has more than 30,000 followers on his page.
Patrick’s previous attempts at romance have all fallen flat.
“Please come and party with me and the wildlife gang at the park on Sunday 30th”.
Leonard said Patrick had already well exceeded his predicted lifespan, so it was time for him to find a mate to retire with. He lives at Ballarat Wildlife Park in Australia.

Past year Patrick was named by CNN as the world’s third greatest city mascot, in a report which said he has captivated visitors including Nicolas Cage, Kirstie Alley and Kim Cattrall.
