Patriots Find Ways To Win

Tom Brady lamented the injury to Julian Edelman after the New England Patriots’ dramatic last-second win over the NY Giants on Sunday.

Edelman has 61 receptions for 692 yards and seven touchdowns this season, second on the team to tight end Rob Gronkowski’s eight, and is quarterback Tom Brady’s favorite target. He acknowledged that it won’t be easy.

“I mean, you just can’t (replace a single player)”.

The Carolina Panthers also improved to 9-0, with a 27-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Nashville where Carolina quarterback Cam Newton completed his first 11 passes, eventually completing 21 of 26 for 217 yards and one touchdown despite being sacked five times. The two players have been impactful parts to the Patriots’ offense this season. Then a key Patriots player got hurt, with leading receiver Julian Edelman injuring his foot and not returning. On the first play, Brady, under pressure, underthrew wide receiver Aaron Dobson.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence in Brandon LaFell”.

In January 2005, after the New England Patriots cruised to a 14-2 record and were beginning their playoff run to Super Bowl XXXIX, then-Indianapolis Colts kicker Mike Vanderjagt memorably declared, “I think [the Patriots] are ripe for the picking”. But our game definitely shows a few matchups and a few of the things and how Buffalo adjusted to certain things that we did. Incredible. And Danny’s had just a great year this year, and really continued from the way he finished last season.

“We can’t expect every week to just come out and have things go our way and roll out”, Patriots receiver Matthew Slater said. “We’ll need to find different ways to produce with the guys that are on the field”.

In addition to Edelman, whose status is still up in the air, the Patriots offense has lost Lewis (torn ACL), left tackle Nate Solder (torn biceps), and offensive lineman Ryan Wendell (knee) to injured reserve. The New England Patriots, with an undefeated season on the line no timeouts in hand, trailed NY by two points as the clock wound down under two minutes. Yesterday was a good example of that. “And on offense I thought we just did enough”.

The Panthers extended their league-best winning streak to 13 games, dating back to last season, as Newton ran for a touchdown and passed for another score.

NY had to settle for a Josh Brown field goal which put them ahead with 1:47 remaining, but there was still time for Brady to drive the Patriots 44 yards to set up Gostkowski’s victor. “We had our chances to win and we didn’t win”. Added Manning: “We’ve just got to be able to hold onto a lead and so you can always look back and see were there opportunities lost and where you could have been the difference in making the play, but you never know how that’s going to turn out”.
