Jimmy Garoppolo had three touchdown passes before leaving in the second quarter with a right shoulder injury as the New England Patriots outlasted the Miami Dolphins 31-24 on Sunday.

Further pressed on whether the Patriots felt Garoppolo was healthy enough to play Thursday, Belichick said, “I’m a football coach, I’m not a doctor”.
For the rest of the game, Brisset stepped in for Garoppolo while wide receiver Julian Edelman was moved as the emergency quarterback.
“New England coach Bill Belichick didn”t come out Monday and name Brissett the starter for Thursday”s game but with a short turnaround and Garoppolo out for the near future and Brady out two more games, Brissett is the logical choice.

“Well, Jacoby (Brissett’s) done a great job taking advantage of his opportunity as well”, Brady said.

The Patriots have had one of the most settled quarterback situations in the NFL – if not league history – thanks to Brady, who led the team to six Super Bowls, winning four, during his 15-year career. This could be why Brady has had nothing but good things to say about his backup’s backup, too.
