Patriots not expected to trade backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Patriots are not interested in trading Garoppolo. First he tweeted it, then he went on radio and TV to confirm his own report. There’s no way they’ll be suitors for Garoppolo given what this could do to drive up the Patriots’ asking price. All that leverage is in place with Jimmy Garoppolo. There will be a lot of jostling these next couple of days with every team together in Indianapolis.

Garoppolo, 25, is scheduled to enter the final season of his rookie contract this year. Tell the world – almost honestly – that you don’t “expect” to trade Jimmy Garoppolo. Schefter was adamant, saying Garoppolo would be a Patriot in 2017. He’s bold and confident in his demeanor, speaking with a heavy tone. OK, it’s always the lying season in the National Football League, but the pre-draft period is when lying reaches levels normally reserved for fifth-graders trying to explain what happened to their missing homework assignment.
Here are the latest news, rumors, notes and rumblings around the NFL. Tom Brady is an example of that and so is Dak Prescott.
Brady is 39, but he’s coming off one of his best seasons, just pulled off a comeback for the ages in the Super Bowl, and reportedly may sign an extension this offseason.
Are the Patriots really going to pay two franchise quarterbacks in 2018 while they wait for Brady to retire?
The only way that the Patriots can prevent him from doing that is by placing the franchise tag on him.
Let’s get something straight in the recent larger-than-life story that has overtaken the Patriots backup quarterback and recent media sensation.
This simply does not make any sense. And this is a business. The Patriots are also favored to win the AFC Championship at 3/1, while the Steelers are 13/2 and the Broncos are 15/2.
The momentum is with New England to make its next monumental move.
Garoppolo wants to play and he wants to play now. He wants to start. “It’s a point of emphasis for us as we try to find and establish our starting quarterback for the long term”.
Garoppolo has one more season at just over $1 million on his deal. That’s why we talk about it.
Schefter is an incredible reporter, but he could be getting played by Belichick here.

The Cleveland Browns are among the teams in need of a quarterback with potential assets to sway a deal for Garoppolo – they have the Nos. Danny can also be heard weekends on WEEI 93.7 FM.
