Brady overcame New England’s shaky first three quarters by throwing for a pair of touchdowns in the fourth, and the Patriots defeated the New York Jets 30-23 to remain unbeaten.
The New York Jets should have Chris Ivory healthy for Week 8 and ready to start after the running back dealt with a hamstring injury Sunday, but if not, players like Zac Stacy and Stevan Ridley could be potential replacement options.
Texans running back Arian Foster, who was carted off the field in the fourth quarter, has a torn Achilles tendon. Four plays later he hits Danny Amendola on a crossing route in the end zone for a 23-20 Patriots lead that they won’t relinquish.
But now they must wait for the December. 27 rematch in New York, when the Jets (4-2) will try to beat New England for just the second time in 11 regular-season tries.
The unit gave up three sacks in the first half (the last one on a failed Hail Mary attempt on the final play of the half), but none in the second.
“We’re onto the next game here and trying to figure out the best way to attack Oakland”, Fitzpatrick said. “He’s been great here and we’re going to keep finding ways to get him the ball”.
Brady, as he has done so often in the past, made critical fourth quarter plays when they were needed most.
“To be honest with you I think I was really their only option, because where else are you going to get somebody?”
On WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan Show on Monday morning, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady voiced his support for LaFell in the receiver’s first game back on the field after spending the first part of the season on the physically unable to perform list. The Arizona native has thrown for over 1400 yards on the season, with 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Despite dealing with multiple injuries across the board, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady has this team rolling.
Gronkowski got his hands on the ball for a few passes, and the game was simply all over from there. Mangold is hoping to not miss a game for the team, as Mangold has been very durable during his career, missing just three games in 10 seasons.
The Patriots used a four-receiver set in order to help spread out the Jets, making it harder for them to blitz.
There is no team in the National Football League better at formulating and executing a game plan than the Patriots.
But eventually Brady figured it out.
“I am (angry), because I feel like we had them”, Jets guard Willie Colon said. Here we spotlight one key player for each game of the season, hopefully putting a different player in the spotlight each week. “Second-and-short and they get the first down, we use our timeouts and we don’t even get a chance to kick a field and an onside kick”. Wide receiver Julian Edelman dropped a would-be touchdown.
Need to line up and pass 60 times against a top rushing defense? The 10-second runoff for Marshall’s penalty ended the game.
“We were installing plays this morning at the 11 o’clock meeting (Sunday morning)”. “We have a lot of playmakers on our team”. We know the effort we put in every single day, not just on Sunday….
Ivory struggled throughout the contest, coming in and out of the lineup sporadically. “It was just more of a passing game for one reason or another”. In 2012 the first game went into overtime before the Patriots kicked a field goal to win, but the second matchup that year was a 49-19 New England victory.

“I don’t have an answer for why (we dropped passes) but we did have too many to be successful”, Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said.
