Patriots re-sign RB Blount
A hip injury ended the fifth-year veteran’s 2015 season in December, after gaining 703 yards in 12 games with six starts.

Blount is one of the most powerful running backs in the NFL.
Running back LeGarrette Blount re-signed with the Patriots on a one-year deal this morning, extending a relationship that has been fruitful for both sides since 2013.
Blount, 29, has gained 1,756 yards and 16 touchdowns on 378 carries in 33 regular-season games with the Patriots. He gained 281 yards in the final five games and helped New England win the Super Bowl that year. The 6-foot, 250-pound Blount is a strong inside runner with deceptive breakaway speed.

He joins a backfield that includes Dion Lewis (coming off a torn ACL), James White, Brandon Bolden, Joey Iosefa and free agent signee Donald Brown. Re-signing Blount shouldn’t preclude the Patriots from drafting or signing another running back.
