The Patriots released cornerback Bradley Fletcher today.

According to ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss, the Patriots promoted safety Brandon King to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.

The 22-year-old King signed as a rookie free agent out of Auburn in May.

The seven-year veteran was in his first season with the Patriots, appearing in two games while recording 10 total tackles.

Fletcher was listed as questionable on the team’s injury report after hurting his hamstring in practice on Thursday. In 68 snaps played, Fletcher was targeted nine times and allowed eight receptions for 129 yards (16.1 average) and one touchdown. Fletcher, 29, signed with the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent from Philadelphia on March 18, 2015.
