Patriots release QB Flynn, sign Lindley

He was not active during training camp due to a hamstring injury. Flynn is best known for backing up Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for five-plus seasons in Green Bay.

“We don’t have forever here”.

“Well, Matt never passed his physical”, coach Bill Belichick divulged Monday.

Lindley saw himself thrust into a playoff push last season, when he took over the signal-calling duties in Arizona after both starter Carson Palmer and back-up Drew Stanton went down with season-ending injuries. He has a 50.3 passer rating in nine career NFL games, throwing for 1,314 yards with two touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Lindley started for the Cardinals in their playoff loss this January, and his two interceptions were a main reason for the undesired outcome. “He’s been with a couple different organizations, played some”.

Unfortunately, his time in New England was short, as the need for a healthy quarterback to carry the clipboard for Garappolo for the season’s first four weeks necessitates a move.

There were plenty of supporters to cheer on the team in its first day of practice. As expected, he looked rusty, but he did hit wide receiver Jonathan Krause with a long touchdown pass.

Brady and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell are scheduled to appear at a court-ordered settlement hearing August 12 in New York City, in an attempt to get Brady’s four-game suspension overturned. I know he worked hard. Belichick did not rule out the possibility that Flynn could return in the future. “We don’t have forever here; the train is moving”, Belichick said.

Mike Reiss did report that it is possible that Flynn is brought back once he is healthy. They released tight end Mason Brodine and linebacker Chris White.

Flynn, 30, entered camp on the non-football injury list. Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler made his second interception of Brady, this one a one-handed grab.
