Patriots’ Robert Kraft: Two Mannings equal one Brady

Eli and Peyton are separate people who have won Super Bowls for different teams, none of which the elder Manning owned.

The Patriots franchise is tied for third-most Super Bowl wins with four, and Brady has been under center for all four of those championships.

That combined 1-5 record against the Manning Brothers in Championship Games must really, really sting.

When asked about his trip to Super Bowl 50, Kraft not-so-offhandedly mentioned, “I happened to see Archie [Manning] there”.

Super Bowl VIII between the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings and Super Bowl III between the New York Jets and Baltimore Colts are the only other Super Bowls that didn’t feature a touchdown pass. The Dolphins beat the Vikings 24-7 behind two Larry Csonka rushing touchdowns. So was his quarterback, Tom Brady, who was met with an onslaught of boos from the pro-Broncos crowd when he stepped out onto the field to be honored for his multiple Super Bowl MVP awards. “But with all due respect, we got one son – who has won four”.

Peyton Manning was, of course, the beneficiary of all this. He seemed to think it should have been the Pats’ Tom Brady. However, Eli’s two titles came at the expense of Kraft’s Patriots, a point that no doubt slipped his mind.

Kraft’s right – at least about the rings part. Manning said he wanted to drink a Budweiser after the game. But Robert Kraft just can’t help taking a small shot at Peyton and Eli Manning, and that’s ok. Did the Krafts adopt Tom Brady without telling anyone?

“If I have any regret, it’s that the conference championship game wasn’t played in our hometown”.

Like many in New England, Kraft has looked back on the 2015 season with one glaring regret: not having homefield advantage in the playoffs.
