Patriots RT Sebastian Vollmer could switch to LT with Nate Solder out
Losing Solder so early in the season could hurt the undefeated Patriots since the 27-year-old is arguably their best lineman.

Cannon, whose versatility was lauded by Belichick during a press conference on Wednesday, also said that he is ready to take a bigger role in their remaining games this season.
A local New England TV reporter asked Belichick on Wednesday if he is ever approached at the grocery store by any Patriots fans telling him they would like to see the team “kick Indy’s butt”. Solder struggled mightily against the Dallas Cowboys pass rush this past Sunday, and he was one of the main culprits to allow five sacks on his Hall of Fame quarterback in the first half.
The Patriots face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
That Solder is one of quarterback Tom Brady’s key protectors goes without saying. Marcus Cannon is next on the depth chart at the position. “They’ve got Tom Brady and they’ve got [Solder] trying to protect his blind side”. Going into New England’s fifth game of the season, Cannon has played a total of 144 snaps, most of those coming at the tackle spots. Five-year veteran Marcus Cannon will be the next man up and the Patriots could move RT Sebastian Vollmer to the left side.
-Former National Football League offensive lineman Sam Adams, who spent most of his career with the New England Patriots, died in Houston at age 67. “I think it depends on the player; it’s easier or harder on a few”.

The 6-foot-5, 335-pound Cannon has been part of a rotation this season, usually entering games on the third and fourth series – first at left tackle for Solder, then at right tackle for Vollmer. He was signed by Baltimore from the Miami practice squad on November 8, 2014, and played in three games with two starts in the regular season and two starts in the postseason.
