Patriots sign veteran RB Jackson

The New England Patriots will sign running back Steven Jackson to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Jackson, who spent nine seasons with the Rams after being selected in the first round of the 2004 draft, played for the Falcons from 2013-14 before being released this past offseason.

Steven Jackson is reportedly heading to the New England Patriots to help the team fill its void at the running back position.

Jackson played 15 games with the Falcons last season, collecting 707 yards with six rushing touchdowns. Newly promoted Joey Iosefa led the Patriots in rushing with 51 yards in Sunday’s win. White did his thing with 7 catches for 71 yards and a score, but the Bolden/Iosefa duo had only 87 yards on 24 carries, an average of just over 3.6 yards per carry.

The narrative on Belichick resurrecting late-career veterans never gets old, and never gets less terrifying to opponents who all had the opportunity to sign Jackson this season and all passed it up.

The Patriots can use Jackson as depth, and potentially start in him before the end of the regular season. “He is a very physical back”. He has had some of the worst luck any individual player can have, but hopefully there’s one good run left in him.
