Patriots stay unbeaten as Tom Brady, Stephen Gostkowski cap last-ditch rally

A win would mean the world for the Giants in their hardest contest of the season. New England has been without left tackle Nate Solder, who was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list a month ago, In addition, starting tackle Sebastian Vollmer is questionable as he’s missed practice this week due to a concussion.

The New England Patriots and NY Giants played another classic, again coming down to the final seconds.

Rookie safety Landon Collins dropped an interception on the Patriots’ game-winning drive that would’ve sealed the game.

But it wasn’t until Giants cornerback Trumaine McBride intercepted Brady at the goal line with the Patriots on the doorstep looking to add to their lead late in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Eli Manning threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Giants to their fifth win of the season.

It’s been an up-and-down, injury-filled season for Big Blue, but NY comes into the game 3-0 against the Patriots since the start of the 2008 calendar year.

The Patriots have the highest scoring offense in the league and they’ll be going up against a Giants defense that recently yielded over 50 points and seven touchdown passes to Drew Brees.

NY (5-5) has given the Patriots fits under Tom Coughlin, including two Super Bowl wins, and almost pulled off another victory. They would tie it on a 37-yard field goal by Josh Brown.

The first Giants’ possession did not last long: Two plays, 51 seconds. Of course, the game vs. the Giants will likely be a lot more about revenge than 2015 record. Manning was 22 of 44 for 361 yards and touchdown passes of 87 yards to Beckham and 1 yard to Dwayne Harris. Backup tight end Scott Chandler capped it with a 1-yard reception, giving New England a point in an NFL-record 32 straight quarters. They extended it to 35 with Gostkowski’s second-quarter 31-yard field goal; LeGarrette Blount’s 1-yard TD run following Amendola’s 82-yard punt runback in the third – the longest of Amendola’s career; and the long pass to Gronkowski on which New York’s Craig Dahl and Brandon Meriweather collided. Manning had a career-best for one half with 251 yards passing. “We are also learning more about the tactics used in the Paris attacks and are using that information to make our plans better”, wrote MetLife Stadium on their website. The Giants, trailing 10-7, got the ball on their 26-yard line with 1:09 remaining and needing only 56 seconds to take the lead. There’s actually a very good chance that Manning plays well.
