The Cardinals had so many chances to get their defense off the field and couldn’t get the job done, especially on the Patriots final drive, which ended up being the game winning field goal.
Despite having the home field advantage, the Arizona Cardinals were behind for most of the game, and only took the lead following the aforementioned Fitzgerald touchdown.
We’ll see if losing a game like that has a lasting effect on a team with so much uncertainty.
The Patriots, also without injured tight end Rob Gronkowski, ran the ball almost half the time – they threw 65 percent of the time last season – but in many ways, this offense didn’t look much different with Garoppolo at the helm.

New England, a five-point underdog, took the lead on its first possession and scored again to start the second half.
