Pats QB Brissett’s right thumb could be concern in Week 4

The New England Patriots could be forced to trot out yet another starting quarterback next Sunday after Jacoby Brissett reportedly sustained an injury during Thursday’s blowout win over the Houston Texans.

New England had a short week of practice to prepare Brissett and installed a different offense against a very good defensive unit.

Instead, we’ve seen New England kicker Stephen Gostkowski unleash “mortar kicks” – extremely high kicks that land just outside the end zone.

While the rookie only connected on 11 of 19 pass attempts, he didn’t fumble or throw any interceptions.

Despite all of that, the Patriots have weathered the storm and started the season an impressive 3-0.

Running back Lamar Miller, who rushed for 84 yards on 22 carries, was the Texans top offensive performer.

In an interview on WEEI radio Friday afternoon, Petraglia elaborated, saying that the thumb injury was “the reason for (Brisket’s) lack of accuracy” on passes late in the game. He ran 24 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns, including the 41-yarder in the fourth quarter to give New England a 27-0 lead Thursday. It was the 12th 100-yard game of his career, his second in five days.

Julian Edelman may get his chance, after all.

It was New England’s first shutout since December 30, 2012, and it was the first time the Texans were blanked since December 7, 2003.

Brissett was drafted by the New Enland Patriots in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and even declined to hire an agent to help him with the process! That was just a prelude to his 27-yard bootleg that made it 10-0. But Garoppolo went down with a shoulder sprain in the second quarter of the Patriots Week Two game against the Miami Dolphins. There is a lot of pressure on the other teams in the AFC East to play catch up, but this upcoming week is a tough one for majority. Let’s check out who exactly excelled and deflated fantasy lineups in Thursday night’s game. Houston P Shane Lechler was active for his 225th straight game, the longest active streak in the NFL.

“It wasn’t just a 2-shell”, Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said about the Patriots safety usage after the game, “it was the type of 2 [shell] that they were playing which was very hard”.
