Patton Oswalt and Comedians Mock the Fat Jew’s Plagiarism After CAA Signing

The backlash against Ostrovsky picked up considerable attention last Thursday after he signed a deal with prestigious talent agency CAA.

TV network Comedy Central said the choice to part ways with social media sensation Josh Ostrovsky, who works under the moniker “The Fat Jew”, had been made “several months ago”, and that Ostrovsky’s project had not progressed to the pilot stage, Business Insider reported Monday. That’s when the internet turned on Mr. Fat Jew.

Criticism heightened this weekend after joke writer Maura Quint of Someecards.com wrote a Facebook post asking people to stop following Ostrovsky’s account. The only problem is, as TIME noted, comedians have long accused Ostrovsky of ripping off their jokes and posting them without credit. The article includes screen captures as proof from where the jokes originate.

Quint re-posted her thoughts on Twitter and Oswalt retweeted it to his followers, leading other comedians to join in and mock Ostrovsky. “I’m not producing s-t so you can make more money off of my work, no one is”. The Fat Jew has signed with One Management Agency, a modelling company.

Ostrovsky recently gained brand endorsements and participated in several business ventures, including launching a wine brand, White Girl Rosé.

Despite these successes, The Fat Jew is experiencing the backlash surrounding his plagiarism accusations.

Comedy Central dropped a show it had in development with Ostrovsky, telling us, “We had a script deal that didn’t proceed to pilot”, adding that this happened before the scandal.
