Pau Gasol to consider freezing sperm to avoid Zika

“We had a very friendly and thoughtful meeting with Brazilian President Temer and are very happy with his unconditional commitment to the success of this Olympic Games”, said Bach, a German national and former Olympic fencer. In some cases, the virus has been transmitted sexually. This is not a problem of Rio de Janeiro or Brazil.

“This is bad news for any host country that spends billions of dollars bringing in the games and expects to make the return from tourism”, said Allianz Global Assistance USA spokesperson Daniel Durazo. Therefore, visitors to the Games should pay attention to standard hygiene measures to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal illness and protect themselves against mosquito/other insect bites using insect repellent and/or by wearing long-sleeved shirts and pants.

The Committee was also briefed on the implementation of the temporary recommendations issued by the Director-General on 8 March and updated on the epidemiology and association of Zika virus infection, microcephaly and Guillain-Barré Syndrome since that time.

“I am not invested in whether or not the Games happen in Brazil or not”. It’s been shown to do so, along with causing severe birth defects such as microcephaly.

Gasol is one of many athletes, coaches and more who are taking precautions amid the virus threat in Rio de Janeiro.

The peak came in February, when Rio was hosting a million revelers in its outdoor Carnival festivities.

But for Lais Cristielle, the shrinking numbers bring little relief.

In most known cases, Zika causes flu-like symptoms for a few days. “They go beyond competition”, Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, said in Rio this week.

Cristielle lives in the Vidigal favela, an increasingly popular tourist destination, with multiple hostels and even a boutique hotel overlooking Rio’s white-sand beaches. Also in that survey, 23.2 percent of respondents said they were planning to travel to a country affected by Zika this year, with 30.9 percent opposed.

“This is sewage, dirty water, and there are mosquito larvae there”, she said. Or, as Troy puts it, “bug spray and long sleeves and stay inside”. “I haven’t been doing so well, and I know people are anxious about it”.

World Health Organization says everyone traveling to Rio for the Olympics-with the exception of pregnant women-should be fine.
