Paul George Racks Up All-Star Votes at First Tally
The Los Angeles Lakers legend, who will retire at the end of the season, has garnered over 200,000 more votes than the second leading vote-getter – reigning MVP Stephen Curry. Among Western guards, Curry was followed by the Thunder’s Russell Westbrook and the Clippers’ Chris Paul.

Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant leads in early voting for the 2016 NBA All-Stars game. He played 26 minutes and sat out the entire fourth quarter while the Lakers outscored the Clippers 27-9. Point guard D’Angelo Russell spent 28 minutes on the court, and he added 16 points off the bench while grabbing seven rebounds in the contest.
Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles is home to the Lakers, Clippers, and Kings.
“It’s been a wonderful experience”, Bryant said about playing on Christmas Day following Wednesday’s 120-85 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. For the first time in 20 years, the Clippers won the season series against the Lakers in 2012-13. While Bryant’s support is not at all in question, the more likely explanation for the gap in votes is that the NBA’s social media online voting system gives Bryant an advantage for playing on the Lakers because the Lakers’ social media accounts have a healthy lead on their competition. But Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers begs to differ. They enter this one having lost three straight to Western Conference contenders, the latest Monday’s 100-99 heartbreaker against Oklahoma City. Then he got nine points in a 2:56 span – including a 3-pointer that cut the deficit to 87-72 with 7:50 to play.
However, there is a new storyline as the Lakers are now going through their final year with Kobe Bryant and this is the first of a total of four times the two teams will meet.

For Facebook, a fan must post a status with #NBAVOTE and the player’s first and last name, which is far more labor intensive than simply pressing a retweet button on video of Bryant dunking with #NBAVOTE included in the tweet.
