Paul Manafort quits Trump campaign
The addition of Conway and Bannon also comes around the time that Trump’s campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s previous work with former Ukrainian President Viktor F. Yanukovych, who supported Russian President Vladimir Putin and was ousted in 2014, is being called into question. “And believe it or not, I regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain”. Wednesday’s announcements came less than three months before Election Day, and roughly six weeks before early voting begins.

Stepping into her new role as campaign manager, Conway said the advice she would give Trump is to “be authentic because that’s what Americans appreciate”.
On Wednesday, Trump announced Breitbart News executive chairman Stephen Bannon would take over as his new campaign chief executive, a title very similar to Manafort’s.
Even veteran reporters who followed Trump on the campaign trail were surprised to hear just the opposite, Trump, using the word ‘regret, ‘ in talking about himself and what he has said. Trump attended his first classified briefing, meeting with national security officials for more than two hours with career staffers from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, who were expected to cover major threats and emerging concerns around the world.
As the New York Times notes, Trump’s choice of Bannon was “a defiant rejection of efforts by longtime Republican hands to wean him from the bombast and racially charged speech”. “I am committed to doing whatever it takes to win this election, and ultimately become President because our country can not afford four more years of the failed Obama-Clinton policies which have endangered our financial and physical security”. “We’re going to make sure Donald Trump is comfortable about being in his own skin – that he doesn’t lose that authenticity”, she added.
“That is the most direct route to 270”, said Chris Young, RNC field director.
“I think my father didn’t want to be, you know, distracted by whatever things Paul was dealing with”, Eric Trump said.
Bannon is moving to the Trump campaign from the top of Breitbart News, a conservative website that has emerged in recent years as a social media colossus in politics – one that has been unabashedly supportive of Trump’s campaign lately.
What political news is the world searching for on Google and talking about on Twitter? “But that apology tonight is simply a well-written phrase until he tells us which of his many offensive, bullying and divisive comments he regrets_and changes his tune altogether”, she said.

And, it was done not because the campaign is moving into a new phase – it moved into that “new” phase on May 3 when Trump effectively secured the Republican nomination – but because the campaign is badly flagging in the polls and some sort of change was necessary.
