Paul Merson predicts West Brom v Stoke
West Brom head coach Tony Pulis used an unusual metaphor to describe the club’s methods in the January transfer window.

The Baggies recovered from their Boxing Day defeat at Swansea City to secure their first win in six games by beating Newcastle United 1-0 in front of their own fans.
But Pulis speaking about Berahino admits that the player is in line to start against Stoke this weekend and said “It’s got nothing to do with anybody apart from me and Saido”.
It is of course, a reunion of some sorts for Pulis and Stoke, with the manager having had two spells at Stoke previously in his career, with the latter spell one in which they were promoted to the Premier League.
“Certainly [what I inherited] initially was a big factor and I was very grateful for that”, the City boss said. “He’s trained well this week, he’s been in on time and he’s done everything that everyone else has done”.
“But we have to move people out before we can move people in”, he added. However, with the Baggies desperate for goals, and Salomon Rondon still suspended, there have been rumours that Berahino could start against Stoke.
Berahino has only scored three Premier League goals this season.
Mark Hughes is contemplating freshening up his in-form Stoke City side as they attempt to build on a fruitful festive period in their trip to West Brom on Saturday.
Winger James McClean serves the last of his three-match ban, while Pulis will give a late check on Jonas Olsson (hamstring). “If it happens I’m sure you’ll be well informed”. “All teams such as ourselves are going into games thinking we will back our ability against anybody and see how far it takes us”.

A truly spectacular and captivating win away to Everton on Monday was another occasion where Stoke showcased their considerable potential, and emphasised that they should have their sights set on qualifying for Europe rather than merely finishing in the top half as they have for the last two seasons.
