Paul Pogba: Jose Mourinho hints at pairing Frenchman with Michael Carrick
It’s reductive to keep referring back to the Sir Alex Ferguson era when Manchester United, its squad and its staff have moved on but there’s a feeling that such an orchestrated move wouldn’t have been sanctioned under the Scot.

Manchester United’s re-signing of midfield star Paul Pogba for a world record fee of £89million is a “massive gamble”, according to Warwick University’s football expert.
“Paul told me before he left that he wanted to be the best player in the world”.
The Monaco defender remains in second spot as he continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.
United lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in the Community Shield win over Leicester, a formation in which Pogba failed to impress during France’s Euro 2016 run to the final.

Pogba, 23, returns to Old Trafford four seasons after departing for Italy, with Juventus confirming the transfer fee of €105 million (£89.3 million, $116.4 million). Video courtesy of MUTV.
Arsene Wenger admits Paul Pogba’s transfer to Manchester United “ticks all the boxes”, but the Arsenal boss believes English clubs are forced to pay over the odds for players from overseas. “He is still working out the best way to use all of his weapons but, once he does, he will be an absolute monster of a player”, Ferdinand was quoted as saying by BBC on Tuesday.
Last week, Mourinho said both managers were “not ethical”, after they criticized the big-money deal for the France midfielder. “So at Man United it can happen”. “This is the right club for me to achieve everything I hope to in the game”.
“They work hard to be in the match and they aren’t, and this is going to happen because we have just one Premier League match”.
Jose Mourinho hasn’t brought Pogba back to do what Gareth Bale [£87m] or Cristiano Ronaldo [£80m] do for Real Madrid.

“There’s a big expectation on him with the biggest ever transfer fee, but I think he’s a pretty confident lad that can handle that”.
