Paul Pogba moves to Manchester United for record $116 million

Despite being critical of United’s fee for Pogba, the Arsenal manager went onto admit that the French midfielder meets the criteria for that value.

“You’ve got to get rid of that problem and I think that’s where Jose Mourinho is at now, that’s where the club is at, with the money they’re investing in the team and the squad and the manager”.

“What United have done is buy a young man who has the potential and talent to become the game’s next all-action hero”.

Mourinho also vowed to “protect” Pogba as he attempts to adjust to life back in England and justify his massive fee.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has had a good working relationship with the agent for the past three years, although it required several meetings and numerous hours with him and lawyer Rafaela Pimenta to sort Pogba’s playing and image right contracts.

“So if he needs protection, I am here to protect”.

However, in an interview before Pogba’s transfer was completed, Mourinho has spoken about Carrick as a first-team starter and the veteran looks set for a starting berth alongside Pogba.

Pogba joined United in 2009 but made only seven substitute appearances before leaving for Italy in 2012 as a 19-year-old, with a tribunal ruling Juventus had to pay 1.5m pound for him.

“I remember watching him for the first time and he was a very leggy individual”, said the United legend and club ambassador. No doubt that Pogba has talent and youth on his side, however Manchester United nearly lost the respect of the footballing world chasing him.

“I heard already two of my colleagues from other clubs speaking about us”.

And Mourinho wasted no time in telling the likes of Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp just what the deal meant.

“I like everything”, the boss told MUTV.

With the attention now turning to the pitch as Pogba attempts to live up to his hefty price tag, former Liverpool and England defender Carragher is confident the France global will take the Premier League by storm. I wouldn’t be happy with just finishing in the top 4.
