Paul Reubens, popularly known for his character as Pee-wee Herman is said to reprise his role in “Gotham”. Let’s hope Oswald’s father is a slightly more stable influence than his mother Gertrud (Carol Kane), anyway.
He played the Penguin’s (Danny DeVito) father and though he had no dialogue in the film his presence was significant due to the fact that he and his wife both made a decision to get rid of Oswald when he was just a baby because of his deformities. He’s playing my dad! He has described his character in previous interviews as being a “countermeasure to all the villainy in Gotham”. Paul Reubens did play Penguin’s father in Batman Returns, so it’s a nice bit of fan service on the part of Gotham. He’s ready to use all of those tools. “You can’t prepare for all contingencies, though”. On the other hand, James Frain’s Theo Galavan is held up with Robin Lord Taylor’s The Penguin.
Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) also steps up his game in the clip, telling Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) that Jim will find the person responsible for killing his parents. Barnes comes in as a countermeasure to the villainy that is running amok in Gotham. Nathaniel Barnes, says it’s going to be “big” with “huge effects”.
