The roughly 40-member Freedom Caucus was widely credited for Speaker John Boehner’s decision to resign, and Clawson has said he expects the caucus to maintain its “blocking position” as a significant minority of die-hard conservatives within the majority Republican conference.

“I don’t think we can trust the president on this issue”, Ryan told NBC’s Chuck Todd.
“We have a president that isn’t willing to listen, that isn’t going to sign lots of our bills into laws, we have a Senate that has a very hard process when it comes to actually getting bills voted on”, he said. “People don’t like Obamacare”, Ryan said.
RYAN: Flex time. We have had pretty good legislation on flex times and that’s a bill that I think is a great idea.

“There are always exceptions to the rules, and when circumstances dictate, we have to look at all options available”.

Although he said the group “shouldn’t get a red cent from the taxpayer”, he would not commit to including defunding language that would spark a showdown with Obama and congressional Democrats. “And that is what our members are going to unify around”, Ryan said on ABC.
