Paul Ryan Open to Stepping Down from Convention Chair
But Palin suggested she might not be the right match, saying “I think there are so many other great people out there in America who can serve in his position”. “So I have to stay true to my principles also”. And I’m a conservative, but don’t forget, this is called the Republican Party.

Ryan and Trump will meet Thursday, he told Seib.
It’s one former Vice President candidate against another, as popular ex-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has taken square aim at reluctant Trump supporter Paul Ryan.
Donald Trump has not ruled out trying to remove Speaker Paul Ryan as chairman of this summer’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
Palin accused Ryan of withholding support for Trump because he wants to run himself in 2020.
Trump said if he was faced with that decision he would be “very quick with the answer”.
“I want to have a straight conversation with Donald Trump on behalf of the party [and] myself, too”.
Sen. Jeff Flake, a Trump critic, said Republicans should figure out something fast because Trump’s ability to win primary contests by relying on hard-line policies such as banning Muslims from entering the United States might not translate into general election success against the Democrats.
Asked about being Trump’s running mate, Palin said she might not be the best choice. Lindsey Graham was “this lightweight”. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the 2012 nominee who has led some of the anti-Trump efforts, is “ungrateful” for the help Trump gave him that year.
The House speaker’s comments came when a Wisconsin radio host asked if he was concerned about Palin’s Sunday announcement to support his challenger. “She is going, I watched over the weekend, everything is about “woman” and ‘Donald Trump raised his voice.’ And you know it’s all nonsense”.
The reaction from all but a handful of congressional Republicans to Ryan’s statement that he wasn’t yet ready to endorse Trump has been uniformly negative.
“Whether he will have a formal role at the convention is not something that’s been decided or that he has fully considered”, Schnittger said.

Through a spokesman, Ryan declined to respond to the threats. Trump also told Todd that he didn’t think Ryan’s stance would hurt him. I just said ‘at this point.’ I wish I had more time to get to know him before this happened. He later argued: “I spoke very little about it compared to other things”. “And I want to, but I think what is required is that we unify this party”.
