Paul Ryan primary opponent faces nomination paper challenge

Ryan, who reemphasized his support for Trump to House Republicans in a closed-door meeting Wednesday, is rolling out an election-year agenda for members of Congress and the party’s presidential nominee to run on in 2016.

“That comment is beyond the pale”, he added. The House speaker described Trump’s comments as the “textbook” definition of racism. Hopefully the campaign will move in a better direction so that it can be one that we can all be proud of, but here’s the point. (See Megan McArdle and Jonathan Chait’s recent columns for two thoughtful and differing viewpoints on that topic.) But for now let’s give credit to Speaker Ryan where credit is due, for his forthright and repeated denunciation of Trump’s racist behavior.

Trump recently alleged Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who was born in IN to Mexican parents, was incapable of fairly presiding over the civil fraud lawsuit against Trump University due to his immigration policies.

“Look, I’ve spoken to him about the Muslim ban and how I disagree with it. About the deportation, I don’t support that as well”. I regret those comments that he made, ‘ Ryan said Tuesday. “That’s just a wrong thing to say, and I hope he gets that”. With his Trump endorsement, however, he shows he’s nothing more than a mundane hypocrite.

Ryan said he would “not attempt to try and defend the indefensible, ‘ but insisted that sending Hillary Clinton to the White House was not ‘the answer” to a growing divide between the Trump campaign and centrist lawmakers on Capitol Hill. “(W)hat is included in the blueprint constitutes an impressive and distinctive approach to poverty reduction and opportunity promotion that deserves consideration by Democrats”. Today, in a speech at the American Constitution Society’s national convention in Washington, Warren will hit Ryan by referring to Trump as “Paul Ryan’s kind of candidate”.

“But I think what is required is that we unify this party”. It also comes as Democratic leaders have had difficulties controlling their own populist firebrand, Bernie Sanders, who has refused to suspend his campaign despite the fact that Hillary Clinton has won enough delegates to secure her party’s nomination. “These are the choices we have”. “Based on the disastrous campaign she ran in California, and the tens of millions of dollars she wasted, I have learned a lot from her. I do not want her support”.

“I do not believe the military will carry out any order that goes contrary to the law”, he said.
