Paul Ryan says Trump’s campaign is ‘distressing’ but stands by endorsement
So Ryan and Walker are keeping Trump at arms length and Trump’s refusal to endorse Ryan seems to be part of the reason for that.

“We are a party where the grassroots Republican primary voter selects our nominee and that’s as it should be and that it what it is”.
Ryan said Trump’s focus should be on his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton. Kelly Ayotte. Pence on Wednesday endorsed Ryan, breaking with Trump. He says he is still “watching and waiting and evaluating”.
In December, Trump unveiled a plan to temporarily ban Muslims from immigrating to the United States.
John Weaver, a top adviser to former presidential candidate John Kasich, also weighed in over Twitter, reflecting on his time with McCain during his presidential campaign in 2000. The district is comprised of more moderate voters, suburban mothers and Hispanics – all voting blocs Trump has struggled with.
“Donald Trump is going to balance our budgets, he’s going to cut taxes, he’s going to repeal Obamacare and he’s going to unleash the unbridled potential of the American economy and get Americans back to work again”, Pence said.
“I’m not going to get into details of the nature of the security briefings that both candidates receive”, he added. Ryan says he wishes it weren’t necessary but “that’s just the way the cookie crumbles”.
McCain’s lengthy statement in response to those comments was released Monday. Obama lauded “patriotic Muslim Americans” who fight in the USA armed forces.
Nehlen’s comments drew a swift rebuke from one of the leading Republicans in the state Legislature. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos called him a bigot.
The Republican speaker has declared his support for Trump, but he said such endorsements aren’t “blank checks” and pledged to speak out against the businessman’s divisive positions if necessary.
NORAH O’DONNELL (CO-HOST): We know the Hillary Clinton campaign is courting GOP defections. “Paul Ryan’s still for open borders, and for his corporate donors”. “He strongly encouraged me to endorse Paul Ryan”.
Campaign spokesman Marc Lotter didn’t respond to a request to interview Pence about his relationship with Trump.
None of the top-ranking Wisconsin Republicans are attending the Trump event.
Among those on the team are John Paulson, a hedge fund billionaire; Dan Kowalski, a former staffer on the Senate Budget Committee; and Steven Mnuchin, a NY investor who is Trump’s national finance chairman.
Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at a rally Thursday in Portland, Maine, nearing the end of the week marked by turmoil for the campaign as his poll numbers plummet.
The New York billionaire has been sharply criticised for his attacks on the bereaved parents of a US Muslim soldier killed in Iraq.
Pence told NBC’s “Today Show” that he is seeing “tremendous enthusiasm” for the Republican ticket. “Because I feel I have to, in order to defend Republicans, and our principles, so that people don’t make the mistake of thinking we think like that”.
Nehlen also said in the interview that he wants 24-hour surveillance of USA mosques.
Indeed, Donald Trump’s damage to the GOP could stretch from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue all the way to Capitol Hill. “What Trump is onto is he’s just saying what’s on his mind”.
Nehlen is discussing going much further, targeting the more than 3 million Muslims who live in the US – many of whom are USA citizens. Trump and some other Republicans have described the money as ransom payment for four Americans detained in Iran days before the money was delivered. A month ago, Clinton was up by six points (44-38 percent, 26 June to 28 June), the report said.

Trump said Wednesday he saw video showing the money being delivered.
