Paul Scholes feels Paul Pogba is not worth his reported fee

Cape Town – Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is adamant the club will not be held to ransom by Juventus over the potential transfer of midfielder Paul Pogba.

Scholes, who departed United in 2013, saw Pogba’s potential as a teenager at the club but believes the 23-year-old is not worth a world-record fee.

If the Higuain information is true, Juventus have probably agreed to pay that much because of the advanced negotiations with United for Pogba.

The deal should blow the current transfer record – of Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid – out of the water, but Scholes believes that Pogba is not worth that price.

“He was a very talented young player, I played with him and I knew how good he was,”Scholes told Sport Witness”.

“If you ask me, at that time his agent was asking for a lot of money for a player who did not play first-team football except once or twice”.

Talks are said to be at a very advanced state and a deal appears imminent as Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola flew to Miami, United States to meet with his client and discuss the finer details.

“Okay, he has gone on to great things and there was a massive improvement in him”.

Manchester United have offered £100 million for Paul Pogba but Juventus are demanding more, according to Sky Italia.

“So we are calm, we know the profile of player we want”.

“We have two more options in front of us and we are going to close one”.

“I gave them four profiles of players we need, and I gave them a few options, and they did for me 75 per cent of the job with Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan and Bailly”.
