There are a number of reasons Trump might not want to released his returns, including, as the New Yorker points out, that he pays a low tax rate, or he donates very little to charity, or that the billionaire doesn’t want tax professionals snooping around.
“Second Amendment people have awesome spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power”, said a statement from Trump’s campaign.

“Hillary wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment”, he told supporters in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Tuesday. “Although the Second Amendment people – maybe there is, I don’t know“.
“The comments made by Trump should not be dismissed as a joke or considered careless”.
“There is tremendous political power to save the Second Amendment, tremendous”, the NY businessman said.

But Democrats saw – and seized – an opportunity to reinforce the perception that Trump can’t moderate the things that come out of his mouth, much less the decisions he’d make as president.
Hillary Clinton is expected to sharply attack Donald Trump in her first full rejection of his economic plans on Thursday, ripping into her Republican rival’s policy agenda as little more than proposed government handouts to benefit the super wealthy – and his own interests. “I don’t have an answer for you”, the spokeswoman said. And you have to be careful. “When you get those seats, you sort of know the campaign”.

“I got an email that I called (State Law Enforcement Division) about this morning, where a man threatens my life and threatens President Obama’s life”, Rutherford said. “People are grasping at straws”, Ron Bonjean, a Republican strategist unaffiliated with Trump, told Reuters.
