Pavelski’s late goal gives Sharks 3-2 win over Predators

“We took too many penalties”, Johansen said. “It was good to see it go in”.

Pavelski’s goal, his sixth of this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead.

The difference is that Games 3 and 4 are on the road, where the Sharks are 31-10-3 this season, including playoffs.

But if Sunday was any indication, the series is far from over.

“I think everyone should feel encouraged in here; I think we played a great game”, Ekholm said.

“They found a way to win tonight and we didn’t”, Predators centre Ryan Johansen. Nashville was a disciplined team during the regular season and need to be especially so for the rest of the series.

Joe Thornton added an empty netter and the Preds replied with 3.6 seconds left. “But it’s Game 1 out of seven, so we’ll come back for Game 2”.

They had their legs back, no question.

Duprey, John A black cat spooks the Cubs during a 1969 game at Shea Stadium. Nashville had failed to convert on 26 of its first 27 power-play chances this postseason, including one in the first period, and appeared on its way to another blown opportunity.

“You knew it was a game you were going to have to earn”, Pavelski said. That put the Sharks on a power play. While the Nashville Predators haven’t had much luck in the playoffs during their franchise history, San Jose needs every advantage that they can get to win the second round series.

It was the Sharks’ eighth power play goal in seven playoff games, and their third in the series. While Couture isn’t as good in his own zone as guys like Bergeron or Pacioretty, he’s still above-average in that area, and it says something that his scoring numbers are comparable/better to those players named above. I thought their desperation level was just a little higher than ours in the second and in the third.

Ask a casual hockey fan about the San Jose Sharks, and what may you hear?

After realizing his team had six skaters on the ice, Predators defenseman Roman Josi headed to the bench.

“I’ve never seen that before”, DeBoer said. I can usually tell if he s moving his feet and competing based on his faceoff percentage and that s something that Chris had worked at all year and it hasn t been easy. Early in the second period, the Sharks got their signals mixed up on a line change because of an unexpected turnover and, just like the Predators a bit later, were penalized for too many men on the ice. His best sequence came early in the second period when Joonas Donskoi slid a pass to Couture, whose shot from the slot was stopped by Rinne. Two PP goals caused Nashville to fall behind and end up pulling Pekka Rinne for an empty net, which resulted in a 5-2 loss.

The small black cat made its way onto the ice, exiting from the door to the Predators bench and then walked right in front of the Sharks’ bench, all the way to the corner where the cat exited through another door.

The Sharks, though, made the most of their eight shots on goal in the third.

Not even the bad luck of a black cat can slow down the San Jose Sharks in NHL playoff series
