PAY ATTENTION MEOW: ‘Super Troopers 2’ Has Officially Begun Filming

If you don’t follow any of the members of the comedy troupe Broken Lizard, then you may not have heard that production on the long-gestating comedy sequel Super Troopers 2 started today. The news was first posted on the comedy group’s Facebook page. No release date has been set for Super Troopers 2 yet, but it’s looking likely that we will see the film released, in some capacity, in 2017. The director, who also co-stars and co-wrote in the sequel, said that official production would start in August and it turns out that he was just a little bit off.

The project raised a staggering US$4.4million for the project through an Indiegogo campaign, after meeting their initial target of $2million inside 26 hours.

“Super Troopers 2” is now filming in Boston.

The film is, quite obviously, the direct sequel to the 2001 cult hit, and again features the entire team of Jay Chandresekhar, Eric Stolhanske, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, and Paul Soter. The original film about five hilarious Vermont state troopers who loved to prank the people they pulled over first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. (See the clip below!) Meanwhile, fans are totally stoked for the the sequel to be released, and can’t wait to find out what the troopers are up to this time around.
