Later a statement was issued by the airport authority saying, “A full emergency was declared at KIAB for priority landing following which the runway closed for operations at 1020 Hours”.
More details are awaited. Five of the 65 passengers were given first aid after landing.
The runway had to be closed for about 30 minutes for the landing, which delayed a few flights, but all passengers and crew members of the Jet Airways aircraft were evacuated safely. Other guests have been shifted to the airport lounge and are being cared for.
Jet Airways has further stated passengers will be accommodated in the next available flight to Mangalore, while the aircraft is now under inspection by the airline’s engineering team.
“All checked-in and cabin baggage has been handed over to the guests, who will be accommodated on the next Jet Airways flight to Mangalore”. National carrier Air India had 3,111 delayed flights, while low-priced domestic carrier Spicejet had 2,205 delayed flights. Operations resumed at 10.51 am, BIAL added.
The ATR aircraft was later moved to the parking bay for a complete inspection by the engineering team.

An official statement from Jet Airways said the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was informed about the incident and the airline would extend full co-operation in this regard.
