He has also been issued a show-cause notice for bringing Pakistan Cricket into disrepute.

Akmal, the flamboyant 25-year-old middle-order batsman, was not included in the 16-man squad announced on Thursday for the three T20 internationals later this month following reports about his alleged behaviour at a dance party in Hyderabad.

It is understood that Akmal attended a party in Hyderabad without the requisite permission during the current Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match between Hyderabad and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.

The PCB didn’t elaborate what Akmal did, and chief selector Haroon Rashid said Akmal was issued a show cause notice and dropped on the instructions of the PCB.

Umar, whose elder brothers Kamran and Adnan also played for Pakistan, was jailed for beating a traffic warden a year ago.

Rasheed said Mohmand has been rewarded for his perseverance.

“Having experience of playing first class cricket for many years, with his form, sound technique and fitness, and also given his fielding credentials, Riffat Ullah [Rafatullah] Mohmand has been afforded an opportunity as he was considered to have potential to feature in an worldwide T20 competition as an opener”, explained Rashid.

The Pakistan Cricket Board, already reeling from senior bataman Younis Khan’s shock retirement from one-day internationals, acted swiftly to censure Akmal and Ajmal.

Imad Wasim’s position in the T20 squad is subject to fitness.

The T20 series commences on November 26 at the Dubai worldwide Stadium, followed by the second game at the same venue on Nov 27 and Sharjah on Nov 30. If he is not available, all-rounder Bilal Asif will take up his spot in the 3-Match series against England.
