PD Editorial: Hillary Clinton offers a sharp contrast to Donald Trump’s America

As she prepared to deliver her speech, people familiar with the matter said the FBI is investigating a cyber attack against another Democratic Party group, which may be related to an earlier hack against the Democratic National Committee. You know, I was right there last night next to that stage and I’ve got to tell you it really looked like Hillary Clinton was trying to take all of this in trying to remember this moment in history.?

On Friday morning, the Trump campaign issued a new statement on Clinton’s acceptance speech, deriding her words as delivered from a “fantasy universe”. “A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons”, she said.

“When any barrier falls in America, it clears the way for everyone”, she said of being the first female presidential nominee for a major party.

“Don’t let anyone tell you we don’t have what it takes”, Clinton says. After his disastrous comments suggesting that Russian Federation hunt for the deleted e-mails of the former secretary of state, Trump spent much of Thursday attempting to convince the country that it was just a sarcastic crack. She also described her mother as a devoted grandmother.

Although he didn’t name and names, he appeared to reserve particular fury for Michael Bloomberg who called the Republican nominee a “dangerous demagogue” and called on voters to elect Hilary Clinton – a “sane, competent person”. The version of Hillary Clinton featured in Philadelphia is one who’s spent a lifetime working for children, the poor and the disabled – and who is relentlessly dedicated to the work of social justice. Donald Trump can’t even handle the rough-and-tumble of a presidential campaign.

The two women, New Yorkers of similar ages with high-profile parents, have been friendly in the past.

Very average! Moments later, Trump reiterated his view that Clinton’s speech was solidly mediocre. “He would have gone home a hero”, Trump said. But her primary focus was persuading Americans to not be seduced by Trump’s vague promises to restore economic security and fend off threats from overseas.

Chelsea Clinton commented on Ivanka Trump’s convention speech during an interview on Facebook Live hosted by Glamour this week. “There are no policies on any of those fronts that you mentioned”.

As Clinton moves into the general election and the final 100 days of the campaign, a question of trust and likability looms over her campaign.

Ms. Clinton has never faced an opponent as willing to do or say anything as Mr. Trump, or one who has been so impervious to the normal laws of politics.

After spending time as a management consultant and as a correspondent for NBC, Chelsea Clinton now works for the Clinton Foundation and recently wrote a book for middle-school aged kids. She did much to reintroduce herself to the American public by turning the convention into a remarkable display of the nation’s rich diversity, and an open embrace of patriotism, veterans, fallen police officers, Black Lives Matter, immigrants, and a spirit of can-do optimism sorely missing from last week’s Republican gathering.

But some Democrats are less interested. “She said that what anxious President Kennedy during that very unsafe time was that a war might be started – not by big men with self-control and restraint, but by little men – the ones moved by fear and pride”.

She added: “We are not afraid”.

Emma Schmit of Rockwell City, Iowa, agreed, “She’s part of the one percent”.

Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic presidential nomination Thursday night casting herself as a uniter working for the common good and
