He said that the meeting unanimously appointed him to replace its acting National Chairman, Haliru Mohammed, adding that he still remains the secretary to the board.

But despite the rescheduling, the BoT still met yesterday and appointed Senator Walid Jubrin as acting chairman to replace Dr. Haliru Bello Mohammed.
In the new schedule, the meeting of the National Caucus has been shifted to Monday, February 15, while that of the Board of Trustees (BoT) will now hold on the morning of Tuesday, February 16.
Mr. Bello is one of the most prominent members of the PDP alleged to have shared money from the $2.1 billion arms scandal known as Dasukigate, for its association with the former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki.
Also asked why the BoT chose to hold its meeting against the directive of National Working Committee to postpone the party’s organs meetings to next week, Jubrin said the board took it decision as a special organ of the party. Walid Jibril, to also combine the function of acting chairman until when it is conducive to elect a new chairman.
He added that the tenure of Bello Mohammed has since expired which informed his removal as the acting chairman of the BoT.
He said: “The BoT has already called for this meeting”. It is a special organ that regulate its activities.
Secondus had on Monday asked the board and other organs of the party which had earlier fixed dates for their meetings for this week, to shift them till next week. We can take our own decision.
He said party leaders expected the north-east to meet and pick a short list of three candidates and submit same to the meetings of national caucus and NEC next week.

On the issue of the new chairman of the party, he said the North East zone of the party will be sending name or names of their nominees to the statutory organs of the party next week.
