The Cougars went up 14-3 when receiver Demarcus Ayers, off a trick play, threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Chance Allen with 6:11 remaining. Maguire added a scoring pass to Jesus Wilson later in the final quarter.
Throwing plenty of deep balls, Maguire completed 50 percent of his 44 passes for 392 yards while throwing a pair of touchdowns in the Peach Bowl. Maguire then came running back onto the field, hoping to put the ‘Noles into a position to come back. Cosentino went 1-4 for 5 yards.
Florida State turned the ball over twice in the first half and saw Maguire injure his left ankle late in the first quarter and leave the game for a few series.
