Pearson scores late, Kings beat Oilers 3-2

Through his 324 minutes of play thus far, Talbot has earned a goals-against-average of 2.22 (the 11th-best mark of all goaltenders who have played in five or more games thus far this season) and a save-percentage of. The situation was seemingly remedied when GM Peter Chiarelli brought in former New York Rangers backup Cam Talbot. Missing from the Kings lineup were Dwight King (foot) and Matt Greene (upper body).

Edmonton has lost two straight and fell to 3-6-0.

Jeff Carter also is tied with Toffoli with six goals, who scored four times against Edmonton in 2014-15. All three were hard plays for the netminder due to either circumstance or defensive breakdowns, and all three came amidst a flurry of exceptional saves.

McDavid came close to tying the game 3-3, with only 5.2 seconds left in the game, but Quick managed to keep the puck from crossing the goal line with his glove. They scored one power-play goal in their first five games.

Should they do so, it seems Talbot should be able to hold down the fort on the back-end, giving the team a significantly improved chance of coming away with wins each night.

The Oilers tied the game with six minutes left in the third as Hall was able to tip a Nugent-Hopkins feed past Quick to make it 2-2. We just kind of carried it over. McDavid and Nail Yakupov both extended their point streak to five games with the assists.

The Oilers gave up four goals during their three-game winning streak before struggling Friday and must get sharper play from defenseman Justin Schultz (minus-5 rating).

At 19:56 of the third period in the Los Angeles Kings/Edmonton Oilers game, video review was inconclusive in determining if Connor McDavid’s shot completely crossed the Kings goal line. The Kings are in Winnipeg to face the Jets on Tuesday….

NOTES: The meeting was the first of five games between the Pacific Division rivals this season.

As much as the night was about the perseverance of Pearson, who scored his first goal since January 8, it was also about the non-goal and a night of high drama at Rexall Place.
