Pebble today announced the launch of a major software update for its line of Pebble smart watches, introducing new health features and interface tweaks created to streamline the “glance and go” process of getting information and acting on it. The timeline has quick views and the 4-button quick launch lets you access your favorite apps in just seconds.

The company has redesigned Pebble Health around activity tabs that display step count and sleep performance.

The update’s hitting the Pebble time, Pebble Time Steel, Pebble Time Round, and will support the upcoming Pebble 2 and Pebble Time 2 when they hit store shelves later this year. You can also press right to dive deeper, take a closer look and compare your each activity with typical performance from the past week.

Pebble’s new quick view feature. It sports a “banner design” that exposes more items in a single view than the old layout, and features what Pebble calls App Glances, or little windows that show info from a given app before you open it. From your watchface, you’ll be able to see more of your upcoming agenda (up to three days ahead) by pressing down. Pebble said it’s improved the companion Health app for iPhone and Android, too, with graphs “clearer” and “easier” to read. Press Down on a Quick View to see more about it, or press Back to dismiss it.

Better, Faster Launcher with App Glances. Once the new app is loaded, the new firmware will be available therein. This is a feature that gives users a quick look at info from their apps without actually requiring them to be open.

Pebble also added quick launch buttons for getting things done quickly. With iPhone Email Actions, you can use your Pebble to delete, archive, mark as read, reply all, and star emails that you get from Gmail accounts.

On iOS and Android, ensuring you’ve received the update is as simple as opening the companion Pebble app on your smartphone, popping into the settings menu, tapping Support, and checking the software version number listed.
