Pebble Time Steel now up for pre-order

The Pebble Time Steel has the same features and functions as the Pebble Time does, but with a build made up completely of steel.

The regular bezelicious Pebble Time went up for sale not too long ago and while you still can’t get the metal clad version – the Pebble Time Steel – it is now officially available for anyone that was on the fence about dishing out money during its wildly successful Kickstarter campaign. The one pictured above is the Gold trim and Red leather combo. Alternatively, steel band edition is available for $299. You can pre-order the Pebble Time Steel directly on their website via the link down below.

Early impressions are already trickling in. The small 64-color LCD is still having limited palette and muted colors, but the display is now less reflective, improving the quality of indoor text reading.

Unfortunately, its companion app on iOS and Android is reportedly hard to work with and, perhaps unsurprisingly, considerably less functional on Apple’s devices than on Android.

Pebble on Thursday offered a quick update to backers of the Pebble Time Steel, the premium metal version of its new Pebble Time smartwatch. And, unfortunately, it’s also impossible to personalize notifications, unlike with Apple Watch. The display of the watch has been enhanced to have a better look and feel, and the battery life has also been enhanced. This holds especially true if you’re on Android considering most watches sporting Android Wear are accompanied by lower price tags than the Pebble Time Steel.
