Messi was happy to see the Spain global fire in the winning goal against Sevilla, and was quoted saying by Goal.com: “He deserved it for everything he has given and continues to give to the club”.
Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has singled out team-mate Pedro for praise, after the Spaniard scored the decisive goal in last night’s Uefa Super Cup final, as per Marca.
Speaking afterwards, Pedro was adamant the situation wasn’t as straightforward as him simply wanting to leave the European champions.
“I had a lot of anger at not being able to play this game but as I have always tried to be professional, go out and help”.
Luis Enrique said he felt the game was over in the 52nd minute, but credited Sevilla for pulling themselves back in to the match too: “We knew how hard our opponent would be”.
Barcelona could claim six trophies this calendar year if they are successful in the Super Cup, before they go to the Club World Cup in December, but Luis Enrique said that his next target was the next game.
“Pedro’s clause is not negotiable, but this could be his last game”, said Fernandez before kick-off in Georgia.
Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique was typically stubborn when asked whether Pedro will feature in Friday’s Supercopa de Espana first leg against Athletic Bilbao. The coach has decided not to count on me. “I am grateful for all of the experiences I have had at the club and for the fans”, he concluded.
“It is crucial that we have our best team available”.
Pedro added: “The truth is that I had a good chance to play, especially since what happened to Neymar, and it wasn’t to be”.
“I’m looking forward to the end of the transfer market so I’ll know exactly what I do have”. We don’t know what he is going to do but we hope he stays’.

But when questioned on his situation after the match, Pedro rebuked Fernandez for commenting publicly and insisted that his feelings are more complicated than simply wanting to leave Camp Nou.
