PELE: I’d Rather Play For Arsenal Than Chelsea

Regarded by some as the finest footballer ever, Pele has won three world cups with Brazil and spent 18 illustrious years with Santos winning several Brazilian league titles.

We’re really not sure, but we’d love to find out and reckon the three-time World Cup victor, and a man with over 1000 goals to his name, could definitely still do a job despite being 74-years-old.

“Arsenal would be a good team to play for”, Pele told the Telegraph.

“I like the teams that play open football”. Pele has, however, earmarked Barcelona as the team he would be most comfortable with, given the style of football they play is reminiscent of what he was accustomed to in Brazil.

As for a European team, Pele said he would have liked to play in the current Barcelona side alongside Lionel Messi and compatriot Neymar.

Despite his outburst, the 74-year-old did back the Spaniard to bounce back, insisting all players should be given a second chance.

Arsenal have struggled to assert themselves in the Premier League this season and lost 2-0 to Chelsea last weekend, after having Gabriel and Santi Cazorla sent off. “Do you think I still have a chance?” he quipped.

In Costa’s defence, Pele went on to say: “This was one moment”. “I suffered all my life with good marking”.

“Unfortunately so many things like this happen on the pitch and this is not good. That’s clear. It is not good for football”.
