Pellegrini hopes for Aguero all-clear after City hit top

City, thrashed 4-1 at home by Liverpool last week, took an early grip with goals from Kevin de Bruyne and Fabian Delph inside the opening 20 minutes before Shane Long headed in for Saints.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini insists is side can still reach the next round of the Champions League. I never complain about injuries as I trust a lot in Willy Caballero – I’m sure he will have a good performance.

He said: “it was important to win three points at home against a team that was unbeaten away, a very hard team to beat”.

A testing game against Southampton probably isn’t what Pellegrini would have wanted as the Blues go in search of their first win in four matches.

Caballero added: “In my last[match], I made a mistake, but these things can happen even if you’re playing every week”.

“Everybody has his own style, and I think we play nearly at the same position, but we’re very different players, so it’s better to have different players who play together than to have all the same”. Ronald Koeman’s Southampton, beaten at home by Stoke last weekend, have seen their hopes of increasing the pressure on the top six take a blow after Jay Rodriguez was told he faces another lay-off following foot surgery.

Leicester began the day in first place, scarcely believable given the team narrowly fought off relegation only last season, but slipped to second after conceding an equalizer to Bastian Schweinsteiger in first-half injury time.

City have not lost three successive matches for five years, so it’d definitely be a surprise if Southampton were to beat them tomorrow. It’s important to have David back – he is a very important player, the same as Kun (Sergio Aguero). “It is a very good season”.

“In the Premier League you never know which team will win against the other”. We had a big chance through Dusan Tadic to make it 2-2. Ross Barkley’s goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time restored the lead for Everton, which was 2-0 ahead after 36 minutes.
