Pellegrini: Liverpool defeat a disaster

Sterling who grew up at Liverpool’s academy before been promoted to the first team shamefully fought Liverpool to seek a move away from Anfield.

Striker Daniel Sturridge was named on the bench at the Etihad, while captain Jordan Henderson, left-back Jose Enrique and youngster Jordan Rossiter are all expected to return to training over the coming weeks. Let alone the fact that this is title-favorites Manchester City who are quite ominous when it comes to playing at home.

Arsenal, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs are considered the top four clubs in England nowadays, but with Chelsea’s shortcomings of late, Liverpool have a huge chance to take their place. It is hard to understand why we played so badly.

In his first game in charge against Tottenham, we saw glimpses of what he is going to bring to Liverpool.

“We want to stay first and it’s important to finish top of the group in the Champions League”.

“I think it is something that opposition teams will be looking at and thinking that if they play quick they might be able to expose that”. But one must remember Toure is now 32 and since Cup of African Nations Tournaments are played during the winter months in Northern Hemisphere, Toure has hardly had a breather in years.

“Players get injuries. But they shouldn’t be having as many different injuries as Sturridge has had throughout his career”.

“Players like Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are all good players, but opponents feel if you get stuck into them, they may disappear”. They have to be right at it from the start till the end.

He said: “We need to turn the page as soon as we can”.

“I always answer about the question the same thing”, said Pellegrini. With Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi not fit and unavailable, Pellegrini had to opt for a less-favored Mangala-Demichelis pairing and the duo looked utterly clueless at times bordering what we might have called comical defending.

With just one defeat in their past eight games since Klopp took charge, the players recognise that belief is growing with every positive result.

After this season’s unpredictable start to the campaign, perhaps Liverpool are finally starting to believe they can sneak back into the top four this season under new manager Jurgen Klopp. He is turning the Reds from “doubters to believers” and that is what Liverpool supporters want to see.
