The Chilean won the title and the League Cup in his debut season but, for some, his popularity has waned in recent months despite winning his second League Cup and guiding the club to the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in its history.
“I’m not happy about losing in the semi-final, but it’s better that what this club did before”.
He said: “You always feel that you can do it better, especially for me”.

Manuel Pellegrini believes he has several more years before he retires from management and is targeting another job in the Premier League.
“If you are not in the four positions in the Champions League and demonstrating you are among the best teams in England, for me it’s a disastrous season”. I am finishing my contract here but of course I’m anxious about that [not qualifying] because I want to finish the season in the best way. I think we deserve to be in the Champions League next year, as in the whole year we have been in a Champions League spot from the beginning to the end. “That is a disaster for all the big teams”.
Manuel Pellegrini is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season. They deserved to win the title because they were the best team.
Pellegrini, though, does not seem overly concerned.
