Republican presidential nominee Donald J. Trump told a meeting of the shale gas industry in Pittsburgh that he would adopt an “America First energy plan” that would scrap President Obama’s climate plans, ease regulations, lift limits on mining and drilling of federal lands and promote the construction of energy-related infrastructure, including controversial oil and gas pipelines and coal export facilities.

While the industry overall hasn’t seemed to lean toward one presidential candidate this election season, Clinton has made comments about imposing conditions that would lead to the end of unconventional drilling, which has left some on edge.
Trump also said he wants to rein in the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, which many drillers view as an obstacle to the industry’s growth.
In North Carolina, Republican Rep. Robert Pittenger, whose district includes parts of Charlotte where protests have turned violent, said they stemmed from protesters who “hate white people because white people are successful and they’re not”.
