Pena Nieto: Trump proposals ‘a real threat’ for Mexico

Correct The Record, an organization supporting Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the Nov.8 presidential election, slammed Trump. While Trump was claiming during his speech in Phoenix that the Mexican government would pay to build the wall, the Mexican president tweeted that their had been no such agreement.

Three WNYC reporters watched the speech with conservative New Yorkers to gauge their reactions to Trump’s speech.

Trump also promised that his administration, should he be elected in November, would triple the number of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, hire 5,000 additional border agents, and, on “day one”, deport anyone associated with criminal activity who does not have permission to be in the country.

“Immigration reform isn’t about Mexico; its about what’s good for the United States”.

“You want a president with energy and drive?”

The Democrats’ immigration policy is “very different from the division and deportation nation strategy of Donald Trump”, he added.

“We only want to admit those into our country who share our values and love our people”, Trump said. Virginia Congressman Morgan Griffith said he agrees with Trump’s policies on immigration control and building a wall.

Jacqueline Guillen, a 36-year-old securities lawyer and daughter of immigrants, pumped her fist in excitement over Trump’s words. “But the facts aren’t known because the media won’t report on them, the politicians won’t talk about them, and the special interests spend a lot of money trying to cover them up”.

Trump insisted again Thursday his immigration proposal is “humane” and “softening”. He doubled down on his nationalist zeal, appealing to the white, working-class fears about the country’s fast-changing demographics.

The blame for Trump rests on many shoulders.

Since Pena-Nieto, a head of state of a major nation, had agreed to meet with Trump and discuss major issues affecting the US-Mexico bilateral relationship, Trump now appeared on the global stage as a credible interlocutor, Schirach remarked.

Right now in congress, Griffith said their main concern is trying to get testing started for a Zika vaccine.

If Trump thought he was walking a tightrope with his supporters who wanted a hard line, he was mistaken.

But after Wednesday night’s speech, Aguilar said: “I have no other option but to withdraw my support”.

“Donald Trump did a kind of photo op fly-by, where he didn’t even have the nerve at the last minute to bring up this issue about the wall”, Kaine told CNN’s Chris Cuomo.

According to Reuters, the official said the Mexican president spoke English during their time together and that Pena Nieto had clearly told Trump about the offense his comments had caused the Mexican people.
