“The contention for the championship is very important to me and obviously we’ve done (well) so far”, he said.

Simon Pagenaud has extended his lead in the IndyCar Series standings after notching up a third win in five races around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course with yet another formidable performance. While the Penske team, has won four of the five races run, Pagenaud has finished better than he did in any race last season in all of 2016’s IndyCar events, starting the season with two runner-up finishes and following them with his current win streak.
When the pits did open on Lap 40, all the leaders stopped, leaving Castroneves up front with Daly right behind, and Hinchcliffe won the race off pit road to assume third ahead of Pagenaud, Kimball, Dixon, Hunter-Reay, and Rahal. “After the first (stop), I realized it was something to do with it”.
“Going into the biggest race of the year, where we have the most pressure, I think the knowledge that we have, the confidence, is a huge advantage”. He already knew. but that’s what we did the next two pit stops.
Spencer [Pigot, teammate] had some good finds so we will work with that. “Thanks to my guys”. “We were on the blacks at the wrong time when everyone else was on reds, but to still make up three spots on that (last) restart was pretty good”.
As did Pagenaud’s consistent driving.
“Yeah, I think I’m the favorite”, Pagenaud said Thursday, according to The Associated Press. “He didn’t talk much”. I feel very clear in my head during the race, which is really good. The heat race format gives us a chance to go out and adjust on our stuff. On laps 16 and 22 Takuma Sato and Montoya respectively were given drive through penalties for pit exit violations.
NASCAR’s new Dash 4 Cash format agrees with Erik Jones – even when his No. 20 Toyota is running on older tires. “The strategy was magic”.
His closest pursuers did not disagree. To win championships and be consistent, you have to learn how to put a whole weekend together, you have to make good choices in the vehicle and about the auto setup with the engineer.
Pagenaud’s latest conquest came on the coldest day IndyCars have ever raced at the speedway. That’s a great job.
Club buyers pay $1,750 a seat for one of the best locations to watch the Indy 500, at the exit of Turn 4 along the main straightaway. He was in position to win the season opening race at St. Petersburg but made one little mistake that cost him the victory.
Rahal, who started the race in 24th position took the lead in the race.

“I think this year there was more of an emphasis on the throwback”, said Dixon, the 2008 race victor. He saw Scott Dixon drifting into his path but apparently didn’t know Sebastien Bourdais was inching alongside on his left. Power’s error was a Lap 6 spin while trying to fend off Alexander Rossi’s Andretti Autosport-Honda; Montoya, was one of several drivers penalized for a pit-exit blend-line violation, although he climbed from 15 to finish eighth. With the temperature so low, it was hard to get tires warm on the out lap. The 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 takes place in two weeks but practice for qualifying and the race begins Monday.
