Pence breaks position with Trump to endorse Paul Ryan

“I’m very confident after Donald Trump is elected president and Paul Ryan is reelected to congress and Speaker of the House, these two will do great things to restore the country”. But Ryan spokesman Zack Roday has previously said the campaign would not get in a “back-and-forth” with Nehlen and added that it had never sought Trump’s endorsement. Ryan is hoping to avoid a surprise defeat like Eric Cantor suffered in 2014, when the House majority leader lost a Republican primary to a little-known tea party challenger Dave Brat.

During an interview with Fox News Wednesday, Pence endorsed Ryan on air. “And that can’t start until he apologizes to the Khans”, Dakota Meyer, one of a handful of living Medal of Honor recipients and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s son-in-law, wrote Tuesday on Twitter. Sarah Palin and, on Wednesday, was campaigning in Kenosha with former Colorado Rep.

The move comes a day after Trump said in an interview that he’s “just not quite there yet” when it comes to backing Ryan, who has at times been critical of Trump’s most controversial comments.

Key Republicans close to Donald Trump’s orbit are plotting an intervention with the candidate after a disastrous 48 hours led some influential voices in the party to question whether Trump can stay at the top of the Republican ticket without catastrophic consequences for his campaign and the GOP at large. He challenged Ryan to an arm-wrestling match if he wouldn’t debate him.

Nehlen has criticized Ryan as being weak on border security and for supporting free trade deals.

Tuesday’s primary is open, which means Democrats can cross over to vote in the race.

In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Tuesday evening, Katrina Pierson said, “It was under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that changed the rules of engagements that probably cost his life”. There have been no debates and Ryan has not mentioned Nehlen in his television ads.

In June and July surveys by the Marquette University Law School, 84% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents in the First Congressional District had a favorable view of Ryan; only 9% had an unfavorable view. He became speaker last fall and has history on his side – no House speaker in modern political history has lost a primary.

Ryan, who sleeps in his office when in Washington, has made a point of returning to Janesville as often as possible to be with his wife and three children.

“I like Paul, but these are disgusting times for our country”, Trump said in the interview.

“I call it like I see it, and I’m always going to stand up for our military families and what’s best for the people of New Hampshire”, was all Ayotte would say. “I’ve had primary opponents before”.
