Pence: ‘I’m sure Colin Powell’s embarrassed’ by emails

“He is one of the most famous faces in the GOP, serving under three Republican presidents, but in his hacked e-mails, Colin Powell calls his own party’s nominee “A national disgrace” and an “International pariah,” ABC’s Cecilia Vega began her report.

“That’s what the 99% believe”.

1, 2, 5, 6, 10: actual emails from four-star general and former secretary of State Colin Powell.

“No need to debate it with you now, but Trump is a national disgrace and an global pariah”, Mr Powell wrote in June, noting the criticism of Mr Trump by several prominent conservatives. He can never overcome what he tried to do to Obama with his search for the birth certificate…the whole birther movement was racist… The New York Times wrote its headline in a balanced fashion, but because of its web design, only the portion of the headline that emphasized Powell’s comment that Trump “is a national disgrace” was visible on the paper’s home page.

In an email sent in March 2015, Mr Powell was critical of her appearance, saying that she “doesn’t look good” on high-definition TV, was “working herself to death” and raised questions about her being the second-oldest president, turning 70 in her first year in office, if elected in November.

Trump’s response, as per usual, was a succinct tweet on Powell’s shortcomings.

The leaks show that Powell isn’t particularly happy with Hillary Clinton either.

But in one 2014 e-mail released online, Mr Powell lamented that while he respected Mrs Clinton, he would “rather not have to vote for her”, describing her as having “a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational”.

“H.R.C. could have killed this two years ago by merely telling everyone honestly what she had done and not tie me into it”, Mr Powell wrote late last month, referring to Mrs Clinton by her initials.

The remarks came in a June 17, 2016, email to Emily Miller, a journalist who was once Powell’s aide.

Powell has also criticized the way Hillary handled her Email controversy. After it was reported that Clinton had told FBI investigators that Powell had advised her to use a personal address, he lamented that what he called her “minions” were “making a mistake trying to drag me in”.

“I’m sure Colin Powell’s embarrassed about the things that he said about both candidates in those emails”, he said. It was Powell’s gmail account that was hacked.
