Pence: ‘Life is winning in America’

Organizers had no immediate estimate of crowd size, but the march to the Supreme Court after the rally filled the street for many blocks amid chants of “We love babies, yes, we do, we love babies, how ’bout you?”

The March for Life has been held every year since the US Supreme Court ruled abortion was legal in the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.

On Tuesday, Trump signalled his intention to nominate an anti-abortion justice to the Supreme Court and has already revived an old policy banning funding for groups overseas that pay for abortions or provide information about abortion.

The Trump administration has thrown its support behind the annual March For Life, six days after an historic number of people across the world marched in support of women’s rights.

The 44 annual March for Life was full of spirit and hope, and the crowd was full of people of all ages and walks of life.

Pence reminded the crowded that Trump signed an executive order earlier this week blocking federal funding for abortions overseas and promised that Congress will work to end federal funding going to American organizations that perform abortions.

Glenn Miller, a 60-year-old cabinet maker from Coventry, Connecticut, says this is his fourth march and it’s easily the most enthusiastic. Bryan said women’s bodies are vessels that are owned by God, and the “most oppressed person is the infant in the womb that has no voice”.

Vice President Mike Pence will address the march – the first sitting vice president to do so.

By staging the major march, anti-abortion activists are aiming to send an unequivocal message to the Donald Trump administration.

But critics say they’re disappointed that the government is once again trying to interfere with a personal decision.

It comes just one week after the Women’s March last week, a pro-abortion movement protesting President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Vice President Mike Pence also spoke during the ceremony.

At the rally, the crowd, including young people, cheered as speakers told of plans to defund the reproductive health organisation, Planned Parenthood, through Congress.

“It is no coincidence that the first right cited in the Declaration of Independence is the right to life”, she said.
